Oh Dear

January 31, 2007

Oh Dear

It’s the three post-it notes in this photo that made me laugh so much. Over the switch to turn on the stove, one says ‘It’s f**ked’. One on a hob itself says ‘Yes, it really is’; the last is in a frying pan, with ‘Pretty Badly’ and an arrow pointing to a hole that has apparently been burned through the saucepan. I really hope it gets fixed soon!

Lifehacking

Lifehacking

Crazy Matt taught me a new way to tie shoelaces, which results in the same knot but is up to three times quicker to tie. I’m not usually one for Lifehacking – making everyday activities more efficient – but there’s something so satisfying about the method that I can’t stop using it.

Mario Kart

Mario Kart

I went bowling (£8, all you can bowl) with the Compscis, and as well as kicking ass (153 twice) this was waiting to greet me in the arcade. I was only aware that this had come out in Japan (which I now know to be wrong, but it only served to increase the surprise element), so of course, I had to play. I took on Martin, with myself playing as Blinky and he as Yoshi, who are stat clones of each other; as such, it was a pure test of skill. I maintain that my item button was a bit dodgy, but I still managed to place third, with Martin in fourth – and isn’t that what really matters?

Mosaic

Mosaic

On my way to Camcircus, managing to get lost again, I saw this rather cool mosaic in an underpass; there were four underpasses all done like this on both walls, so this is only a small fraction of it, but it’s all as good as this section.

Queens

Queens

The idea here was to have the tree framing the picture, but it didn’t come out quite how I was looking for.

Reading Room Pav

Reading Room Pav

Pav – which was very very good – was greatly increased in awesomeness by the porters forgetting to close the reading room.

Ceilidh

Ceilidh

Nothing like a Ceilidh on Burns’ Night. Even better is when your Physics supervisor is hosting it. You never know when a photo of your supervisor in a kilt might come in useful!

Snow!

January 24, 2007

Snow!

Not much, admittedly, but enough to give me a satisfyingly snow- crunchy walk into town for lectures (one of which ended up being cancelled, annoyingly, as we had to hang around for the second – though in the intervening hour we gatecrashed a first year maths lecture, which was just one tangent after another, and was sensationally interesting for it).

Pink and Ride

Pink and Ride

What a pun! For a good cause too. This is both big and clever, unlike yesterday’s photo, and brought a smile to my face just the same.

Graffiti

Graffiti

It’s not big, and it’s not even clever, but it still made me laugh. Spied on the desk in a Physics lecture theatre.
