St. Mary’s Church

February 28, 2007

St. Mary's Church

Where the domain of the University is measured from; in theory you have to be within three miles of St. Mary’s every night of full term to be able to sign the docket saying that you’ve been in residence.

Shepherd’s Delight

Shepherd's Delight

This was plain weird. The reddest sky that I’ve ever seen just wouldn’t come out on my camera, no matter how I fiddled with the settings. This was the best of the bunch, but it doesn’t even begin to convey how red the sky was. I was really disappointed that it didn’t get captured.

Scalextric

Scalextric

Looking in the cupboards in the reading room as we occasionally do, we found to our amazement a Scalextric set. Wasting no time, we set it up, whereupon this picture was taken. Then, to our horror, we realised that it didn’t work – but for the brief moment here, we had hope.

Before Troupe Practise

Before Troupe Practise

I got to the Fire Night far too early, so decided to try and abuse the large puddle next to the lamppost where we gather. Unfortunately, my camera didn’t have quite a wide enough angle to get the top of the post and the bottom of the reflection. Still, I quite like it.

Kat’s Half Birthday

February 24, 2007

Kat's Half Birthday

Kat’s 21st birthday is going to happen when she is (she hopes) in America, so she decided to have a half-birthday in Cambridge so that loads of people could come. It was a smart Adults/Kids party, with games like Charades and Twister, vodka jelly, and more flying saucers than anyone knew what to do with.

Pav Second Room

Pav Second Room

Arguably the best Second Room set I’ve had the pleasure of attending. Nat played all the music that should be played at Pav but never is, and everyone loved it. I look forward to any future sets from her with great enthusiasm!

Churchill Cafe

Churchill Cafe

Every Thursday, the Churchill CU runs Churchill Cafe – somewhere to go and relax, and get fed free toasties and hot chocolate. It’s not an attempt to convert people, but simply done because it’s a nice thing to do. Most people show up, and a good time is had by all. Chris doesn’t look particularly impressed by this photo though.

Green Car

Green Car

I saw this car ahead of us coming down the road towards us; my first thought was ‘What a cool car’. It’s the type of car that I picture Thursday Next driving. I whipped out my camera and managed to get this shot – unfortunately, everything except the car is in focus.

Pancake Day Scrabble

Pancake Day Scrabble

A whole bunch of people pitched up to make Pancakes, but when most of them left Ruth, myself, Kat, Jon and Phil Hair settle down for a game of Scrabble. It might be said that we made some… allowances…

The Mac Room

The Mac Room

Occasionally in the gap between lectures, the lecture theatre that we sit in isn’t empty – in such an instance, we relocate to the Balfour Mac Room which, unsurprisingly, hosts an enormous number of Macs. As a result, Felix and I love it, Dan hates it, and everyone else is wavering in between.
